DES with a Difference

ProActiv Disability Employment Services (DES) has the added advantage of giving you access to their rehabilitation team who can provide specialised services to job seekers. Having access to these specialised services helps remove your barriers to employment.

ProActiv provides services for people living with a disability, illness, injury or health condition who want to find a job or keep the one they have.

We can help you make a pathway to find a job that matches your abilities and condition(s) and then work with you to find solutions to manage or overcome any challenges you have and help you gain the skills and confidence to achieve what you want to in your working life.

Proactiv staff will assist you to write a resume and cover letters and help you in your job search, to find the job that suits you and your needs. We will also help you to identify any challenges the job may cause and putting in support for you in the workplace as required.

We can also assist people living with a disability, illness or injury who want to keep the job they currently have by modifying workplaces, speaking to bosses or co-workers and providing ongoing support in the job.

ProActiv makes sure that the person’s capacity, barriers, aids and equipment are right for the work role they take on or are currently doing.

ProActiv provides the two parts of the Disability Employment Services

  • Disability Management Services
  • Employment Support Services.

Disability Management Services is for job seekers living with a disability, illness, injury or health condition who need assistance in finding a job and then once employed ProActiv can help with occasional support in the workplace so they can maintain the job or keep the job they have when their conditions flair up or their life situation changes.

Employment Support Services is for job seekers who have a permanent disability, illness, injury or health condition. ProActiv help them with finding a job and then provide regular ongoing support in the workplace to that they can keep the job.

ProActiv has the added advantage of giving you access to staff on their rehabilitation team who can provide specialised services to our job seekers as needed.

We have Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists and Exercise Physiologists available for consultations. Having access to these specialised services helps remove the barriers to employment which helps you work out what you need in the workplace.

Under the Disability Employment Services there is also Work Assist.

Work Assist is available to any employees who have an injury, disability, illness or health condition who have trouble fulfilling the requirements of their job role. It is also available to employers, who have employees that are finding it difficult to accomplish their job requirements due to their injury, disability or health conditions.

With permission from the employee, employers are able to access the service. As part of this service we can advise about job redesign, get workplace assessments and get free workplace modifications and/or any special equipment to assist the employee.

The employee can also access interventions from our specialised services from our rehabilitation team such as pain management, counselling or support in the workplace to help manage the impact of their disability, injury or health condition.
