Today we celebrate the 4.3 million Australians living with disabilities through local events in schools, workplaces and community groups.
International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on the 3rd of December annually. By recognising their personal achievements and contributions, it increases public awareness, understanding, and acceptance of people living with a disability. It is a sanctioned day that is celebrated internationally, however, ProActiv celebrate every day with the individuals that we assist.
As an award winning NDIS & Disability Employment Service provider, we acknowledge the importance of IDPwD.
ProActiv People assist individuals to increase their independence, inclusion, and socioeconomic participation.
We also help employees with disabilities who may be having difficulty at work as a result of their condition, providing them with the skills and confidence to realise their potential, increasing the probability of keeping a job.
We use a personalised approach, and can offer numerous supports whether it be to gain employment, support with study, or even assistance with travel and accommodation in order to maintain current employment.
In 2019 the Australian Government has supported a range of national programs and strategies to celebrate International Day of People with Disability, and in turn raised the profile of disability within Australia.
The National Disability Strategy commits all governments to a nationwide approach aimed at improving the lives of people with disabilities, their families and carers. The Strategy’s ten-year national framework for reform focuses on better inclusion for people living with a disability, and seeks to create a society that enables them to fulfill their potential as equal citizens.
